In Gastein – a true paradise in winter – you can also have fun on snow and ice apart from skiing and snowboarding. Whether you are ice climbing, enjoying a horse drawn sleigh ride or snow shoe walking, the idyllic winter landscape will make your heart beat faster. Then afterwards it’s off to refined après ski in the traditional original huts and comfortable lounges.

Skiing and Snowboarding
Gastein runs one of the largest and most modern ski-lift systems in Austria, accessing over 200 fantastic kilometres of slopes. In the Gastein snow valley is always snow from the beginning of December until the end of April (even at Easter you can still enjoy a skiing holiday with us!) thanks to its state-of-the-art artificial snow making equipment. Naturally our large ski area offers plenty of choice for skiers of all abilities, with an extensive selection of easy, medium and difficult slopes. You can reach the lifts easily by car or ski bus en there are several ski and snowboard schools.

Cross-country
Skiing isn’t the only kind of winter fun to offer: Gastein offers almost 90 kilometres of cross-country ski routes. They suit all levels of ability. The Böckstein track is with lights. The most attractive and snow secure track is in Sportgastein at 1600 metres above sea level.

Toboganning
Gastein offers several toboggan runs and most of them are lit. The most attractive one is the Bellevue-Alm Tobogan Run in Gastein: approx 2,500 m long, floodlit and chairlift, open daily until 2400h.
